With a plan…

Hello Darlings,

I hope everyone had a beautiful and relaxing weekend! AND Happy SPRING!!!

I spent most of my weekend on the move.... either running errands, catching up on appointments, grabbing coffee and cookies with one of my girlies, Moroco Chocolat with Andrew; Bier Markt with friends, shopping with mom, writing, reading, more writing, and of course working on new posts!

Obsessing Oxford….

Good Morning Darlings,

Well, it's official I am obsessed with flat oxfords... never expected this but I just can't get enough of them. They make every casual outfit look sooooo much cuter adding easy flare. It is definitely the most perfect shoe to take me back to university...ideal for campus life.
As for today, well a long day at an art gallery awaits me... I complete my internship this week and I have so much work to finish that it will definitely keep me on the run, which of course will require comfortable shoes. So, here's what I am stepping out in: simple and easy!

I am wearing: Mexx Top; French Connection Skirt;Candela Tokyo Oxford Flats; Regina Italia Handmade Leather Purse; American Apparel Shiny Headband in Metalli Silver; A.V. Max Cuff; Diamond and Platinum Studs.

Therefore, after receiving an e-mail from one of the lovely readers, I was more than excited to do my research on my new favorites and find a variety of styles and outfit options.

Personally, I believe that this shoe is a classic... because how can it not be? Men have been wearing them for ages, it is only a matter of feminizing them :P I think that they look best with simple outfits, nothing too complicated... since you want the shoe to be a statement. Simplicity is the key for me, well in every aspect of getting dressed.
For instance, Sienna Miller has been wearing these babies all over the world and really made this trend her own. I love her simple and easy approach, that is not overwhelming but perfectly feminine, delicate and casual.

"So, keeping in step with the men's shoe-inspired look", I've selected some of my favorites!

♥Classic

If I was to "invest" in another pair it would definitely be simple, black, patent leather shoe.... classic but with a touch of interest!
I settled for a fun shoe. They really do make every outfit come alive and with my simple wardrobe-it works out perfectly.

I think that this style is perfect for summer time... clean and simple.

Chronicles of Never Mono in White ( USD 160); Pedro Garcia Alanis Jazz Shoes ( on sale for USD 127.50); Church's Classic Burwood Brogues ( USD470); Topshop Leather Lace-up in off white (USD 100)

With so many choices, there's a shoe to meet everyone's needs... it is just matter of finding one that fits your style. However there a few rules that one should keep in mind when wearing them, courtesy of some of Vogue’s flats aficionados: ( style.com)

♥ “Putting flat lace-ups with a wide-leg trouser or jean is a very dated way to wear them,” says Jane Herman, Fashion Writer. “Instead, try a cropped pant.”

♥ “This should not be a Wall Street look,” states Filipa Fino, Senior Accessories Editor. “Let the men wear them with suits. Women should wear them with feminine pieces.”

♥ “Don’t match the colors of your shoe to your outfit,” suggests Izzie Burch, Fashion Assistant. “These are playful—do the unexpected.”

♥ “Avoid socks!” says Jill Demling, Entertainment Editor. “That’s my only rule!”

Well,I am one foot out of the door :)

I wish you all a wonderful Monday!

With Love...

Gray…

Hello Darlings,
Yay... my Revolve Clothing packages have arrived.Which included Candela Oxfords!!!

No longer associated with salesmen and schoolgirls, flat oxfords have been updated in enough colors and finishes to please every whimsy. With charming simplicity and delicate detail- I was in love with these darlings the moment I saw them. However, I had to be patient for them to go on sale from $243 to $121 and I might add,it was well worth it.They are more beautiful than I ever expected. I was so excited and still am :) Boy-o-boy, I love those days when my orders arrive... it feels like petite Christmas.

I am sooooo in love with them... they are my new substitutes for an all time favorite ballerinas!

The shoe itself is very delicate and in fact, quite feminine. The leather is a-m-a-z-i-n-g-l-y soft and the comfort is indescribable. Plus, I love that there a no laces, which makes them even more interesting. Although, I hate to favor my shoes, these are definitely on top of the list. It is a perfect shoe for summer and fall...They are a unique touch to my subtle and simple wardrobe-just how I like it, simple outfit with interesting details.

Today's outfit, consisted of my new favorites paired with all gray. I adore wearing gray-on-gray and adding a touch of brighter color, such as this purple bag...Also, I've decided that rolling up jeans is a fabulous way to showcase gorgeous footwear and achieve a more casual look. As for the top, well this is one of my favorite tops in the closet, reason being is the beautiful way that it drapes as well as the feminine way it emphasizes the shoulders. I adore this top, it is also an easy transition piece... one that can be worn both for casual-to-evening occasions. Plus, the detailing is phenomenal.

I am wearing:French Connection Shirt; Abercrombie&Fitch Skinnies; Candela Tokyo Oxfords; Regina Italia Handmade Leather Purse; A.V. Max Cuff;Tungsten Ring (worn on the thumb) courtesy Superior Wedding Rings Jewelers.

Also, I though that I should share my views on.....

I've finally had the chance to watch Vanity Fair movie and I must say that I really enjoyed it until closer towards the end. Three hundred pages of Thackeray's work was condensed into 20 minutes and the ending was completely opposite of what it was in the book. I hate when movies change the meaning of the books, especially in such a powerful and significant work as this. I wish that the director stayed true to the book, instead of making it a happily- ever- after ending...which it was not, at least not for Becky Sharp. For those of you who loved the movie, you will adore the book. It is a beautiful film in it's own way, but it does not do the book any justice. The plot was far too simplified and did not portray the true intentions of the author-who is so brilliant. The novel is a masterpiece, but the movie is simply good! I must admit that acting was wonderful.

Anyways, I am off to review my French words... the language is slowly coming along. Sometimes I feel like I am taking up too much tasks for one summer. However, I do enjoy being busy and on the go, It makes me feel alive

I wish you all a lovely day!!!

Sheer Things…

Hello Darlings,
Sheer was seen all over the runways for a few seasons now, however it is definitely becoming mainstream. Although I understand the appeal of this super sexy trend, I've been wondering whether an everyday woman can pull off this look, including myself. I think that there is a fine line between trashy and sensual...however, how do you when you've crossed into the wrong side???

Inspire...
Spring09:Jean Paul Gaultier; Christian Dior;Roberto Cavalli;YSL;Alexander McQueen; Alexander Wang.

Lately, I've been obsessed with semi-sheer tops, including my favorite Club Monaco as well as simple tees from Talula Babaton. I think that there's something undeniably beautiful about the lightness of the fabric and the way it drapes over the body. So my love for semi-sheer has finally encouraged me to give this trend a try...

Last night, I was getting dressed to go out with Andrew for late dinner and drinks... and it seemed like a pretty good time to venture out "semi-naked". However,I decided to play it safe by wearing a sweater over a simple semi-sheer tee and pretty black graphic bra...

Personally, I think that this trend is best kept for night outings, since it gives that little something to otherwise a simple outfit. The most important part of wearing sheer is a pretty and well fitted bra!

This is a love/hate trend for me... I love the look but to a certain degree I hate the feeling ... you know the feeling that makes you stop for a minute wondering what exactly you're thinking and wondering why you're stepping outside your boundaries. But then again what would fashion be if we didn't experiment... this is my experiment!!!

I am wearing: Talula Babaton Semi-Sheer Tee;D&G Bralet; French Connection Skirt; Wilfred Sweater;Gold and Platinum Necklace; Amber Gold Ring ( a family jewel); Michael Kors Oxfords.

So, do you love or hate the sheer trend? How do you feel about wearing it?

At first I was nervous stepping out with my bra visible, but with the cover of a sweater and no weird looks from people... I actually felt very confident wearing the combination. The tee is not too sheer, but gives perfect amount of glimpse of the lace and graphic details of the bra. Would I wear this again?... yes, I feel comfortable enough with the sheer trend and think that it is an easy way to spice up a simple going out outfit.I don't know if I would wear it out during the day...
but everything is possible, you just have to wear what you feel like.

Alright, I'm off to get ready for some Saturday night fun... :)

Nervous Wreck…

Hello Darlings,

Getting ready this morning... I was a nervous wreck trying to figure out what to wear. I know that I should have figured it out the night before... but I just can't, since I get dressed based on my mood.

So here's the deal....

When you're still a student/ young professional and getting ready to go to an art gallery with three of your professors to celebrate a completion of a project that you've been working on for the last year, and then having lunch..... WHAT DO YOU WEAR?

I wanted to wear something that was me,but still professional, but not like I am about to go to an office meeting or a trial.Something cute but serious. Something appropriate, but not boring. Something fashionable but not flashy. Something subtle and classic but with a twist.

Basically, I wanted to look amazing but effortless. haha.... trust me when I say that I was a complete mess, I mean it.

So here's what I am walking out in....

I think that it is not too office-y or grown up, but girl-y and appropriate. Personally, for me getting dressed for meetings is the hardest of all kinds of dressing. Trying to stay true to your personal sense of style and not looking like everyone else does in business-casual attire is quite a challenge.
I am wearing: Wilfred Linen Trench; French Connection Skirt; Armani Exchange Silk Sheer Blouse with Donna Karan Silk Cami; Juicy Couture Laptop Bag; Juicy Couture Mary Jane's; H&M Bow Headband; Diamond Ring courtesy Ice.com Jewelers.

Seriously, meeting with one professor is enough but with three is a tiny bit intimidating. The plan for today is to look at medieval art, discuss it, enjoy the day and then have lunch.

Speaking of professors, I am soon starting my internship... and I am definitely going to kill myself trying to figure out what to wear.Ugghhh.... the frustrations of growing up, just joking :) I am quite excited to get started !!!

I'm one foot out of the door...

I wish you all a lovely Friday !!!

Last Exam and Gustto Loving…

Hello Darlings,

I have my last exam in few hours and can't wait to get it over with. I am sooo tired that wearing heels would definitely put me into a hospital. However, flats still keep the outfit looking chic and simple- and safe, lol.

But the best part is the purse: it steals all of the attention. Yup, I finally got my Gustto bag and it is PERFECTION. I am sooo excited about it.

This outfit combined some of my latest favorite purchases:
♥ starting with this new incredible Gussto purse, that I am gaga-head-over-heels-crazy-in love with.
♥ this adorable top that features a prominent shoulder, but still has a girly vibe. I also love how it perfectly draped in the front.
♥ my all time favorite J Brans black skinnies
♥ my favorite Bloch flats.

I am wearing: French Connection Top; J Brand 12" Pencil in Jett; Accessories & Beyond Bracellets; 14K gold diamond rings courtesy Ice. com jewelers; Gustto Cokera Chain Ban in Black; Bloch Patent Leather ballet flats.
And seriously, if you're a flat lover like me... then you have to pick up a pair of Bloch flats. They are soooo pretty, perfect, and comfortable. They are also outfit lok so much more adorable and the two tone makes then that much more special. Give them a try the quality is phenomenal!!!

Well, time for me to run to get this exam over with.... wish me luck!!!

P.S. Tomorrow, I will make one more post before my flight... :)

I wish you all a beautiful day!!!

Raining Luggage… :P

Hello Darlings,
During today's rainy day, I devoted some time to studying as well as to searching for a luggage bag.

To go shopping, I wore my all time favorite Kors duck boots- I wear them every chance I get. Paired with slightly sheer tights (in the sea of tights, I couldn't find an opaque pair that wasn't ripper-i should clean out my tights drawer, lol), a tee dress and my favorite blazer.

I love the bow accent on the dress.... I have this reallllly big obsession with bows, they are tooo cute!!!!

I am wearing: French Connection Tee Dress; Tulula Babaton Wool Blazer; Calvin Klien Tights; Michael Kors Duck Boots; diamond studs; 14K gold Diamond ring courtesy Ice.com

Luggage

For travel, I've always used a regular upright valise but I hate how wrinkled and disorganized everything was. This time around, I decided to try something new - a wheeled garment bag.

I'm not sure how much clothe will fit. But I've always believed that the more organized the bag, the more will fit in. So this is something that I will have to try for myself. I also picked up a regular valise to pack presents, books and other miscellaneous stuff.
Garment Bag Includes:
♥ double detachable hanger hooks allow bag to hang when open. So it's like an unfold closet, you don't even have to unpack.
♥ door opening panel. The panel of the left goes over the right and zips in for extra protection.
♥ universal hanger brackets lock hangers in place and accept most hangers.
The concept of this bag is very interesting but will it actually live up to my expectations that we will have to see when I begin to pack for my Wednesday flight. I don't want to take too much stuff, but it is a 3 week vacation including a 12hour flight.
Do you guys have any packing suggestions? What are your vacation essentials? What do you take in your carry on?

Any advice is be helpful :) Thank you so much...

I wish you all a lovely day!!!
With Love...
Marta
