Coldplay Concert….

Hello Darlings,

Yesterday was such a perfect day... mostly because I got to go to the Coldplay concert in Rogers Center. Andrews picked up the tickets a while ago and we were both very excite to attend our first concert. (Thanks hun!)

I would say that I am not a concert-y person but more of a ballet, musical and opera kind. But I must admit that I really did underestimate the power of live music. The show and the experience was phenomenal, I never experienced music in such an extreme and expressive way. There were over 50 thousand people and it was phenomenal being in one place with so many happy faces :) I would suggest going to a concert at least once in your lifetime, even if you think it is not for you-the experience is amazing.

It was also our 2 years and 7 month anniversary and yes we do "celebrate" them every month by doing something together. The night was completed by a late drinks at a cute downtown patio. I was and still am very excited... definitely a night to remember!

AS for the outfit for the night....

As for the outfit, I chose a sexier top with sparkle and sheerness and downplayed in with a more simple pair of pants. I felt that it was both comfortable and appropriate for the occasion.

I was very surprised at how casual people dress for concerts. People get more dressed up for hockey games :) It was a bit bizarre to me. Andrew and I also had seats rather than standing, because otherwise I would have died standing on my 5 inch heels from 8 pm until 12.

I am wearing: Alice+Olivia Sequence Top; Armani Exchange Pants;Michael Kors Heels; Gustto Cokera Purse;Luc Kieffer Ring.

Monday Loving…

Hello Darlings,
For some odd reasons I tend to like Mondays, I see them as a fresh start...

So, today's agenda consisted off:
Doctor's appointment
Starbucks run
Gallery run
Finishing Thackeray's Vanity Fair and started The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton.
Rented Vanity Fair from Blockbuster
Went over some French words
Did some work
Picked up a pair of Speedo goggles for swimming
Went for a swim - 30 laps.
Played a game of Monopoly against the computer and won.
Watched some re-runs of True Blood ( I watch it religiously)
Stopped by some Blogs.
Responded to some e-mails
And of course, Blogged.

Well, as for the outfit... it had to be somewhat more dressy since I stopped by the gallery. I chose to finally wear my new Armani Exchange chiffon blouse that I got few weeks ago. The shoes had a touch of purple-y blue in them... so in matched quite well with the blouse.

I am wearing: Armani Exchange Blouse; Alexander Wang for Gap khakis; Michael Kors Heels; A.V.Max Cuff; Ray Ban Wayfarers ( gift from Andrew).
Thoughts on Vanity Fair by W.M Thackeray...
I've finally finished reading the book and I must say that this was the longest read for me -time wise, it took me over 3 weeks. The version I read was in the original format as Thackeray wrote it in 1840 including the original illustrations. This book is phenomenal but requires a lot of patience and possible re-reading ( certain chapters)...if you have the time and patience it is a very rewarding read. The story of the 18th and 19th century England is told with the most sardonic wit and eloquence. The books heroine,Becky Sharp, remains one of the most memorable heroines in British fiction. It is one of those read's that you will stay with you. There's no better way to summarize the book, then the way Nicholas Dames has in the Introduction...

" Vanity Fair is a novel full of scandal, including fraud, pretty deceit, extramarital complications, and murder, but these putative outrages to Victorian notion of social decency are never narrated as surprises. Instead, Thackeray presents them to us with a half-amused, half-disgusted species of boredom, as if to say: Surely, you weren't so naive as to pretend this wasn't the case?"

P.S. I am truly overwhelmed at how supportive you've been of my Elle Canada contest pages, for that I would like to THANK each and every single one of you.... If you haven't had a chance to check them out ... Click HERE.Thanks a million!!! If I actually win this contest, I will definitely have a little surprise for you darlings as a thank you - This is the part I am most excited about!!!

Well, I am off to watch Vanity Fair movie....

I wish you all a lovely start to the week!!!

Hairdresser; gallery runs; late dinners….

Hello Darlings,

Well today was a day full of errands....hairdresser, Hallmark, Art Gallery, Profs Office, Yorkville for dinner.

So, what outfit will take you from super casual morning at the hairdresser's, to an afternoon at the art gallery and professor's office, and then to a night out at Toronto's chic neighborhood for a late dinner and drinks???? This is all on a super hot day!!!
Well, this is what I wore and I felt great wearing it. Comfortable, simple and cute... A pair of shorts that are easy and comfortable to wear but do not look sloppy, cute flats for all of the running around as to add a pop of color, and a silk blouse to make it more chic and pulled together. And a final touch ,of course, a laptop bag for computer and some papers.

I am wearing: Armani Exchange Silk Blouse; Donna Karan Silk Cami; Talula Shorts; Pretty Ballerinas Flats; Juicy Couture Laptop Bag; Pearl Earrings ( gift from parents); Diamond Ring courtesy Ice.com Jewelers.

I apologize for the mess, this is my so called study station... :P and I have yet to re-do it. Honestly, I have re-doing things... I started last summer... finished the painting part, got my bathroom re-done and the walk it closet. But I have NOOO idea what to do with my room...so frustrating.

Anyways, I'm off to do some research... I responsible for an upcoming exhibit catalog, which is both exciting and nerve wrecking.

P.S. Check out my Elle Canada contest pages... here and here. Kisses for your support!

I wish you all a lovely day!!!

With Love...

Nervous Wreck…

Hello Darlings,

Getting ready this morning... I was a nervous wreck trying to figure out what to wear. I know that I should have figured it out the night before... but I just can't, since I get dressed based on my mood.

So here's the deal....

When you're still a student/ young professional and getting ready to go to an art gallery with three of your professors to celebrate a completion of a project that you've been working on for the last year, and then having lunch..... WHAT DO YOU WEAR?

I wanted to wear something that was me,but still professional, but not like I am about to go to an office meeting or a trial.Something cute but serious. Something appropriate, but not boring. Something fashionable but not flashy. Something subtle and classic but with a twist.

Basically, I wanted to look amazing but effortless. haha.... trust me when I say that I was a complete mess, I mean it.

So here's what I am walking out in....

I think that it is not too office-y or grown up, but girl-y and appropriate. Personally, for me getting dressed for meetings is the hardest of all kinds of dressing. Trying to stay true to your personal sense of style and not looking like everyone else does in business-casual attire is quite a challenge.
I am wearing: Wilfred Linen Trench; French Connection Skirt; Armani Exchange Silk Sheer Blouse with Donna Karan Silk Cami; Juicy Couture Laptop Bag; Juicy Couture Mary Jane's; H&M Bow Headband; Diamond Ring courtesy Ice.com Jewelers.

Seriously, meeting with one professor is enough but with three is a tiny bit intimidating. The plan for today is to look at medieval art, discuss it, enjoy the day and then have lunch.

Speaking of professors, I am soon starting my internship... and I am definitely going to kill myself trying to figure out what to wear.Ugghhh.... the frustrations of growing up, just joking :) I am quite excited to get started !!!

I'm one foot out of the door...

I wish you all a lovely Friday !!!

With Love...

Pink…

Hello Darlings,

Bold
Finding a piece that will take you from day to night, from fall to summer and from a mall to a night club... is what makes every girl's day or a even week.

Finding that perfect piece that you will never regret. That piece that will make you feel amazing every time you wear it ... that's what shopping is all about, for me at least :)

The moment I laid my eyes on this dress.... well, it was match made in heaven. Three days later and I am still totally excited about this find, especially since it was on sale from $150 to $70.

Yesterday I wore it out shopping and today I plan on wearing it out for a night on town.... we'll have to wait and see what I decided to pair it with or if I just completely change my mind. Dressing up is always sooo exciting and fun :)
My favorite part of this dress, well besides the color, is definitely the prominent zipper- something about it is sooo sexy. The zipper downplays the girlie-ness of the dress and makes it more interesting. The material is also fantastic...

I must admit at first I really didn't like Armani Exchange, it reminded me of Guess and Marciano. But I am totally loving it now. The pieces are simple but totally adorable and the quality is fantastic. Plus, they always have great sales on... both in stores and online.

P.S. I am slowly but surely replying to each and every comment and e-mail so please bear with me... Thank you so much for your support, it means the world to me :)

I'm off to do more shopping...

I wish you all a beautiful weekend!!

With Love...

Ukraine: Exploring

Hello Lovelies,
I've been having a wonderful time exploring the city which I was born in. I am taking the time to wonder the streets, with the help of my trusty guidebook. Catching up with the childhood friends and spending much needed time with my family.

Volyn' State University with the Monument of one of the greatest Ukrainian poets, T. Schevchenko.

I was expecting the weather to be much warmer and brought mostly sandals and flats.Thankfully, I thought of bringing these Kors babies- they have served me well, lol. I really love that most of the women here wear heels daily... It still amazes me how different North American and European style is :)

Lesia Ukrainka Central Park.

I really hope that the weather gets warmer, so that I could finally take off my leather jacket and abandon my cashmere scarf. Despite the fact that these are some of my favorite pieces, I can't wait to experiment with summer clothe.

I am wearing: Abercrombie & Fitch Sweater; Armani Exchange Pants; Mackage Leather Jacket; Club Monaco Cashmere Scarf; Michael Kors booties.

As for the outfit, well I brought most of my closet favorites and have been having fun mixing and matching. Simplicity is the key for me, as many of you already know :)

P.S. In the following few posts I will include pictures of a breathtaking Medieval Castle which I have a guided tour scheduled for Wednesday; Art, Bell, Book, and Icon Galleries; Churches; and much more.

I wish you all a lovely start to a new week!!!

With Love...

Chaotic…

Hello Lovelies,

After a long night and a lovely morning, I am once again writing into the night...starting this week up until May 5 (last day of finals) I am bombarded with work. On May 6, I am leaving for a family vacation to Ukraine... I am so excited, I can't wait to see my family and friends... I've missed them soooo much :) I am really looking forward to the trip but not to the 11 hour flight... yuk, hate flying.

I though I would share my excitement with you guys, but I would also like to apologize for not being able to respond quickly to your amazing comments. Your comments and suggestions always brighten up my day and from the bottom of my heart I would like to say " THANK YOU"

New Shapes
Now onto my Spring shopping...well I am trying to experiment with different shapes and textures. This weekend I spend some quality time shopping with my mommy and ended up picking up a few things from my "Spring to- buy list"

I am really excited about these cropped, satin, soft, slouchy, pajama-like, harem style pants (lol)... they are amazingly comfortable and are definitely going to replace my favorite pair of black skinnies.

I broke my first fashion commandment...the moment I tried on these babies, until I checked the label which left memortified... they were partly polyester.I was ready to walk away but I loved them so much....so my mommy talked me into giving them a chance... and so I did on Saturday night, when I wore this outfit out. As bothered as I am to break my own commandment. I must admit they do feel nice and don't wrinkle in the way silk and linen pants do... although I don't think that I am warming up to the idea of wearing polyester, I must admit that there's always an exception to every rule .... man-o-man !!!! lol

I am wearing: Armani Exchange Satin Pants; Armani Exchange Silk Blouse; DKNY Silk Cami (underneath); Bloch patent leather flats; A.V. Max Cuff; Diamond Studs.

As for the top, well I was dying to find the perfect sheer blouse and I did. I got both pieces at Armani Exchange... and I must admit the spring collection is really cute and the quality is fantastic.

Two thumbs up for Mr. Armani for coming up with such a cute and affordable line :)

But I need your help..... I am pretty shy and although I would love to wear the top with the pretty bra for a night out... do you think it is too much? Honestly... pretty please :)

Bra or Camisole?

As for the most exciting part, well those are my Bloch flats...I much admit I am going to live in them this summer. I adore them. I used to dance ballet in Bloch shoes and now being able to wear them on the street just takes me back to my dancing days :) They are definitely the most comfortable and chic flats ever...so worth every penny.

Well, I am off for tonight to do some more writing...

I wish you all a relaxing and beautiful evening!!!

With Love...
Marta
