Hello Darlings,

As we all know a perfect accessory can either make or break an outfit! With right accessories you can make a simple LBD look extraordinary…. OR simply tacky! Well, what if accessories are not the only thing that can make or break an outfit? What if every detail that goes into your look matters? What if every little thought that you put into getting ready is what “distinguishes you from the pack” ?….. Which comes down to: DO DETAILS MATTER?

Although this is a personal blog and I just rant about my random thoughts, I am very eager and interested in hearing yours. So please do not hesitate to agree or disagree! But at the same time, I would like to add that in no way do I apply my views to every individual, but only to myself…. I figured that I should state this before sharing my opinion on this topic :)

Personally, I am a total detail and neat freak that will not leave home if the things do not look neat. I like everything to coordinate and look orderly, but still maintain that ” I wore this watch because I felt like it ” look. Rather than because “this watch perfectly goes along with my rings, shoe buckles and the chain on my purse”. Extreme? I would disagree.

I feel that the finishing touches really distinguish a woman and add that je ne sais quoi.I guess the idea is to get used to paying extra careful attention to details. At the end of the day, if you are wearing a pair of Manolos with a terrible pedicure…it says a lot! I believe that you don’t need to spend lots of money to look chic, all you have to do it pay attention to details. Perfection always lies in details :) But perfection carries a different meaning for everyone, therefore everyone should not be afraid to venture out and just have fun!

At this point in fashion we don’t need uniforms, but unique and very personal pieces that separate women from the pack.

To make this post a tiny bit more fun, I’ve decided to share with my daily “finishing touches”:

Favorite Accessories
My favorite: Michael Kors gold watch; Marc by Marc Jacobs Rings; Marc by Marc Jacobs House of Card Harem Ring; Marc by Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Studs.

I tend to wear the same accessories obsessively over-and-over again. Mainly, because I purchase every item in order to go with my favorites. I put a lot of thought when committing to an accessory.

Mani and Pedi
My favorite: Chanel “505″ and OPI “Done Out in Deco”

I am very strict on myself when it comes to my hands and feet. I think that every girl should be well maintained in that area. Personally, I enjoy the process of watching a movie and giving myself a nice mani and pedi two/three times a week. I don’t particularly like the salons, for some odd reason it feel very invasive.

Perfume

My favorite: Miss Dior Cherie Eau De Parfum and Coco Mademoiselle Chanel Eau De Parfum

Like Chanel said” A woman who does not wear perfume has no future”, I believe that perfume should be every woman’s essential. Your sent sends a very loud message about who you are. However, one should never over indulge, as the strong scent can irritate others. Perfume should be personal and sensual and experienced from a very close distance.

Lipstick
My favorite: YSL Rouge Pur “141″

I think that a touch of lipstick always makes a girl feel sexy and beautiful.

iPhone

Since technology rules our lives nowadays, I must admit that my phone is my lifesaver. So I decided to add a cute touch with a pastel pink Juicy Couture case.

Iron

Neatness to me is of great importance and I can’t live without an iron for a day. Ironing has become a hobby, especially in warm weather when fabrics are light and wrinkle easily. A girl should never leave home wearing wrinkles!

What are your daily “finishing touches”???

Once again, I would like to express my appreciation for all of the support during such a difficult time!!! Thank you!!!

P.S. I will be back with an outfit post very soon… ;)

Wishing Everyone a Beautiful Day!!!

With Love…

Marta

Excellent post Marta. Glad to hear that you’re doing better (:
In theory, I agree completely with the details making the girl, but I just think that it’s just too much for me to personally live up to all the time. On an everyday basis, I can say that I don’t put in that much thought into the finishing touches (although perfume, smelling good are basics that cannot ever be ignored!) but when I want to doll up, that’s when I start to think about the perfection in the details. I just can’t do it everyday! Haha, and I’m obsessed with ironing as well! I cannot buy any more linen because ironing takes up too much of my time in the morning!

I absolutely agree, although I usually have a less is more argument so if I’m only wearing one accessory *ta dah!* problem solved.
The care and upkeep though is a whole different issue. I’ve been wearing closed toe shoes for a week because I need a pedi like its my job and just haven’t had the time to go to the salon!

I wear perfume all the time. I feel naked without it. I love those photographs.

I love a beautiful bag and a necklace thought for the outfit (not necessarily matchy-matchy, either of them).
I can’t stand hans that are not well cared for - I am talking about fresh red nail polish every day, just basic care. I am so picky about it, probably because I play an instuments and hands are always on the stage. And I don’t let any esthetician touch them either!

  9. Hi Marta, glad to hear you’re doing better! Although I’ve been quite out of the blogging scene thanks to my superr busy schedule, I always look forward to new posts from you!! I cannot stand ironing- thankfully I’ve never had bad laundromat/dry-cleaning experiences like you have, so I have no problems offloading my clothes onto them!

I have that same juicy couture i phone case! I love it, because it’s both cute and practical, I’ve dropped my phone on more than one occasion and it’s always protected it.

Well… normally my daily details involve a bit of lipstick, a spritz of perfume or body spray, and… actually that’s it. But right now -hangs head in shame- I’m an absolute mess. My poor feet are chapped and sorely abused, and my skin feels like dry cotton! All this swimming and sun, despite my best efforts with sun screen, is basically killing my appearance!

I like how you have such an organized and concise list of what your daily finishing touches are. I wear the same perfume and use the same gadgets, but that’s about the extent of it… I accessorize differently each day as for me, that is what changes my outfits and makes me able to wear the same piece in different ways. I prefer large and loud statement pieces to small dainty ones and love that I can wear clothes that are plain and versatile but still be able to stand out with my clothing choices :)

Hope you have a great weekend Marta!

    Jen

  15. I think my finishing touches are similar to yours ;)

I have not been accessorizing that well lately. I’ve actually not been wearing any jewelry at all. I usually wear cz studs (i’m working my way up to diamonds), my open heart necklace, and my promise ring (both were gifts from my boyfriend), but as of late I’ve been so care free. I took every stitch of jewelry off and haven’t put any on in about 2 weeks. Today is my first day starting back with jewelry-I put the ring back on. I love your watch. I really wanted to get it, but I just can’t figure out if I’m a watch person or not. You know?

I’ve worked on my skin long enough that I’m bare faced most days. I do tweeze and nair on a regular schedule to make sure that I don’t have any nasty shadows. I’m absolutely meticulous about my nails. I spend most of my time grooming them to perfection. I’ve always got a file and nipper out. My nails aren’t always polished, but they are always filed into a neat square shape. I’m blessed with long hair beds, so whether my nails are short or long they look elegant. I prefere square to oval because it seems more elegant than round.

I love ironing. You may not find anyone who loves ironing more than me except for Martha Stewart. haha. Every Friday night after work I plan my outfits for the next week and I iron and lint roll everything so that I don’t have be bothered with it during the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are for relaxing, blog hopping, and recreation.

i m a total believer that accessories can make and break an outfit. and pairing the right items to match!
Wearing the same staple pieces isnt a bad thing, espically if its a nice watch, important necklace, ring etc.!
im pretty big on details as well, but i think thats what seprates people from if they care about fashion and people that dont have the time to bother.
