Hello Darlings,

With the many runway shows and events at Montreal Fashion Week - followed immediately by the whirlwind Toronto International Film Festival ("TIFF") - keeping up with feeling and looking fabulous has been a real challenge! Part of what's so appealing is not just the films and shows, it's meeting so many interesting people, and of course the glitzy and glamorous parties. From sunrise to sundown, the past two weeks I've had as many as six things to attend daily, so this girl is tired :)

Question: what's a girl to do when time is not on her side? Well, I wast wondering this during the first week and came up with a few tricks that made a difference.

In one of the more unique party settings, Marketing Magazine hosted an event on the set of the Breakfast Television morning show to announce their inaugural list of Canada's Top 30 Under 30. Very excited and proud to announce that yours truly was included among a list of young colleagues who are accomplishing big things in the fields of media, PR and advertising.

 

Never in a million years never would I have imagined that from such humble beginnings, my passion for life (and playing with my laptop and camera) would give me the opportunity to join such a talented group! The 2012 class includes advertising phenoms such as Kyle Lamb (26) who is an Art Director at advertising firm John St. - click the link on his name to read about some of the accomplishments of this super-creative guy including the hilarious story about how his mock "Catvertising" campaign went viral - including plugs from both CBS News and late night TV host Conan O'Brien.

Waking up to sad news this morning that famous Hollywood movie director Tony Scott apparently committed suicide yesterday in Los Angeles, California. He was 68 years old, and had achieved considerable success in the film industry directing hit movies including two hugely popular films starring Tom Cruise - Top Gun and Days of Thunder. According to police, Tony Scott jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in suburban Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. His black Prius car was parked nearby, and apparently a suicide note was found in the car.

No one just wakes up one day, and jumps off a bridge killing themselves. Such news is tragic, and it is very sad to think of the impact this will have on his family and friends. Clearly there is much more to the story, which is maybe the most important legacy that Tony Scott could leave behind - awareness of the negative effects of depression - and treatment options that can help save lives and the enormous collateral damage caused by severe depression!

While dwelling on the idea of what every woman needs to achieve before turning thirty, I came to realize that it is not about following a plan but about learning things along the way.

That is when a list of 30 Things Every Woman Should Know and Do Before Thirty came to mind. I remember the first time I read it ! A group of my closest girlfriends and I went over the list — most of us knowing each other since high school — and found that each one could relate to it!
