Hello Darlings,

In the year 1988, power was “in” and so the fashion experts talked about ” power dressing”. Twenty years later, the debate over 80′s power-style in fashion has spent two decades at the back of the closet. The phenomena has returned as Women are climbing the ladder to political power and the fashion press is analyzing the style of powerful people.

On runways of fall/winter 2008, power dressing is very much on display: several designers allude to strong career women or flirt with the 80s stereotype of power hungry secretaries. The season is unusually buttoned-up and the style is more individualistic, representing competence, independence and strength in different ways.

Whether you are working or in school, dressing the part is important. As for me, my day was rather important as I had classes and several meeting with professors. Therefore, I wanted to dress all at once young / casual / appropriate. But when nerves get the best of you and an inspiration is nowhere to be found … what can a girl do? Turn to black…..

What are your thoughts on power dressing?

What are your go-to pieces?

Hope you are enjoying the first days of autumn.
And for my German- speaking friends I would like to say “Vielen Dank !!!”
(the only thing I remember from German class)

With Love,

Marta

I really love this look on you, and I’m in total, utter, 100% agreement about the wonder of black!!

  17. Ida says:

I suspect we all tend to wear the same favorite pieces over and over again, while leaving the least loved ones at the closet. I mean, my dearest, you are not the only one. Summer is almost over, and I’ve come to realize I have not put on some 15 summer items of mine EVER.

Anyway, I absolutely LOVE the way you incorporated the scarf into your otherwise neutral outfit. I am more than positive your professors did notice your charm:)))
