Hello Darlings,

I was quite surprised when Burberry launched a denim line in summer 2009, and was even more surprised to find out they are the most comfortable jeans that I own. The quality, fit, and most important comfort completely outdo all my other jeans. Now, that was a pleasant surprise!

Their soft denim, dark wash, cute pockets, and statement flare… was a sight that I could not resist. I have always loved flared denim, which has nothing to do with Rachael Zoe and her signature flares obsession. I love flares because of the illusion they create, a long and flawless look that is hard to beat. There’s something so appealing about a cute wedge, a form fitting top, and beautifully crafted flares. In my mind, they were a perfect match for my body and my style.

To my surprise, the new Burberry denim line is also “affordable” in comparison to other higher end jeans, between $190-$250. The only challenge is they are difficult to find… I bought my pair at Holt Renfew Last Call (only one pair and luckily in my size) for a little over $100, which was a great surprise. But I do really love that Burberry is kicking up their youth appeal with cute designs. Lately, I’ve been really obsessing over the brand and especially their classic trenches! A Burberry trench is another one of my must-haves.

Wearing anything outside of skinnies or crops is unusual for me. So transitioning my style and expending horizons is challenging, since flares are not a style that you see often especially casually, so I wasn’t sure how to wear them. However since I was just running errands, I paired my Burberry Flares with my Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket for a test run.

I adore my Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket because of its cute quilted look and gold details. I added a simple nude tee which complements the stitching on the jeans and the nude tone of Ash wedges. Plus, although many women are not very fond of wedges they are very wearable and fit perfectly with my entire wardrobe. On another note, I’ve been really loving a half-tucked tee look = tucking your tee slightly at one side and letting it naturally flow on the other. Although this is not my “typical” look, I felt proud for branching out of my crops and skinnies comfort zone.

I am wearing:
Burberry Dark Indigo Wash Flare Leg— from Holt Renfrew Last Call
Talula Semi-Sheer Tee— from Aritzia Sherway
Marc by Marc Jacobs Quilted Duo Jacket—from Holt Renfrew Yorkdale
Marc by Marc Jacobs ” Miss Marc” Earrings— from Bloomingdales Soho, NYC
Michael Kors Watch— gift from Andrew
Ash UFO Wedges— from Holt Renfrew Last Call

Well, I am off to continue spring cleaning… packing away winter and unpacking summer stuff! As soon as I am done re-arranging my wardrobe, I will make a vlog ( o nervous!). Also, I will continue to add lots of items to my new With Love Store !!!

I am not sure as to how everyone feel about flares but I would love to find out…

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Wishing Everyone a Lovely Day!!!

With Love…

Marta

I don’t like how flared jeans looks on me as I am practically a midget but they look nice on you. Before even reading what you wrote they caught my eye and I was surprised because I usually hate them. Tell me that’s a lemon pound cake in your brown Starbucks baggie. ;)

Hi marta :) First of, I love how you wore those jeans. Not many people can pull of flared jeans these days. Also, you said you were looking for a pair of their skinnies and that they’re hard to find, if I read correctly. Have you considered checking out the Burberry store on Bloor street? Their jeans are definetely a bit pricy, but absolutely gorgeous :) .

“Its hard to explain why you need a million new things”…yes, I can attest to that! haha…
and why Andrew dosnt love those jeans is beyond me because I think they look FABULOUS! I have been into flares lately too…its a nice change from wearing skinnies everyday and I forgot how comfortable they were!

  8. i looove flared and wide leg jeans, for exactly the reason you pointed out. they make you look so lean and long IF you wear them correctly. for the record you are wearing them correctly ;) and i don’t mind your shoes when they are covered up. haha.

    Hey Marta,
I’m also a fan of flare jeans, on my casual days. They’re soooooo much more comfortable than skinny jeans, and a nice change, especially when it seems like everybody is sporting skinny jeans! Definitely agree that Burberry is changing up their image and appealing to a younger market - evident with Emma Watson in their campaigns.
Checked out the withlovegabrielle store and it looks great, congratulations!

You’ve convinced me to wear my flared jeans again.

I’ve just stayed away from them for so long because of memories from grade 9 (your grade 7 probably), when the bigger the flare, the better. *shudders* And I used to wear them with Sketchers. Oh God, the nightmares.

Did you have a busted fashion sense back when you’re younger? I sure did. HAHA. What’s the worse outfit you wore and thought it was the coolest thing back then?

    • Hi Jessie,
Oh my goodness!!! I remember those and I did have a pair, until my mom got tire of me “looking like a boy” :P and threw them away. When I was younger my mom was very keen on dressing me cute and girly :P But I definitely did have some terrible moments and those flares are sure one of them :P I think that teenage years wore the worst!

I absolutely adore the double buttons at the waistline of the jeans! It adds so much more fun to the jeans. Those jeans look amazing on you and especially, in the last pic, really elongates your legs!
Also, good for you for wearing your wedges despite some of the negativity towards them, I think you’re totally rocking them :)

  12. And just when I thought that I was alone in my love for flared jeans, you make this post! Those jeans look amazing on you and they definitely do add height to anybody’s frame. By the way, the shoulders on that sweater are adorable. This whole look is effortless and beautiful :)

Those jeans do look amazing on you! They also look super comfy- great stylish outfit to run errands in :)

P.S. I’m not sure if they ship to Canada, but the Burberry website has a good selection of denim!
