The Age of Innocence…
Hello Darlings,
Some days are filled with activities that I truly love, such as shopping, reading and swimming. Today was one of those days!!! After finishing Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence and writing out my favorite quotes - yup, I have a journal to write down my favorite quotes - I started Fitzgerald’s This Side of Paradise.

“Ah, well, Boston is more conservative than New York; but I always think it’s safe rule
- Edith Wharton
It’s amazing how quickly times change, it was unfit for a lady to wear a new dress for at least a year, however now we wear things right of the racks and purchase our winter stuff in the summer and our summer stuff in the winter. Our times have become so rapid that the seasons no longer play any importance as the designers are producing their winter and resort collection in the spring/summer of the previous year. Everything nowadays is in such a rush. Everything is becoming like a fast food market - easy, fast and ready to go in 5 minutes! Is our world becoming too fast that even we can’t catch up with it? Sometimes that’s what it feels like…

Speaking of winter and fall… I have found the most perfect pair of flat Kors boots, they are sooo awesome
Totally excited about them! I know, I know…. I am getting ahead of myself, but I just couldn’t pass by them when they were on a 65% off sale and I wanted them since last winter but couldn’t justify spending $500 on a 5th pair of boots for that year. So I got them for this year… with a much better deal

I am wearing: dvb skinny flare jeans; E community top from Aritzia; Kimberly Baker Dove Necklace; Accessories& Beyond Bracellets in Gold; Michael Kors Heels; Gustto Cokera Purse; Chanel Sunglasses.

Also, I am sooooo excited to share with you this Elle Canada Street Fashion feature that I was included in ….Check it out!!!! Click on the picture…

Thank you so much!!!! It is such a pleasure to be included amongst so many talented and wonderful Canadian bloggers
P.S. Please forgive me for slow responses, my internship is coming to an end and I have so much work to finish…. But I promise to get back as soon as I can. Kisses for your support!
I wish you all a beautiful day!!!!
Marta

Funny you say this: "It's amazing how quickly the times change, it was unfit for a lady to wear a new dress for at least a year" today. I was just reading a Vanity Fair article on couture and it mentioned that custom, though it put the wait at two years!
I agree with you 100%. I feel we need to stop, breathe, and relax a little! Because at the rate we're going, the world will start moving too fast for us to keep pace!
And once again those dvb jeans make you legs look so loonngg! I must get myself a pair!
You are definitely on a shopping roll! but I love each of the pieces you have bought, cant wait to see the boots. And I totally agree these days everyone is racing so fast to get ahead and be the firs one that we have really stopped noticing the present, forget about enjoying it. I think its a cycle and guess this rapidness has yet to reach its peak before people get tired of it and take a step back. But the good news is that we can still control out own pace and take it slow and easy. what say?
Congrats on the feature.
First of all, those jeans look GORGEOUS on you! I wish I had your legs… Also congratulations on your new purchase.
It's so nice to be able to get something you really liked and for a lot less. Thank God for sales!
Perhaps, this could work for some, especially, women.
))
As for the mad rush of our lives… I agree with you 200% on this. Sometimes it scares me a lot. I like living here and now, in the present and make plans for the future, but I don't want this future to become my present asap, otherwise one can't really enjoy this unique "here and now" feeling.
Last week they were talking Christmas on TV! We had TWO (!!!) days on Christmas shopping on one of the channels, so people could buy presents and cards now.
I just think people need to be reminded that if they rush through their lives so fast, they will get old too quickly…
Oh, yes. Congratulations on being featured on ELLE's website! You really deserve it.
Have a great day!

i thought about reading this side of paradise. tell me if it's any good!
I agree with you darling!
I agree with you. Life does move too fast today and nobody appreciates the little things anymore…it's so sad.
I read "This Side of Paradise" and was disappointed. I advise you to drop it and move on to something else. Such as something by Oscar Wilde or Albert Camus - my favs : )
And BTW, as for Julie&Julia, Maryl Streep was divine and did a lovely job playing Julia Child but the rest of the movie was eh.
Hi, Just found your blog and it is great! I totally agree with you on relaxing, I love your jeans and I too am loving all things bow.. x
Congrats on the feature! And I totally get you about the backwardsness of fashion sometimes - trying to explain why fall rtw comes in spring is tough
I am glad you enjoyed your day! I've been lurking for weeks now and must say love your blog, I'm European, and also named Marta!
xoxo
thank you lovely! hope
x
you're having a wonderful day!
I agree completely, I think we are moving too fast with fashion and aside from the fact it isn't necessary, it also has an awful impact on the environment. Vivienne Westwood has recently been suggesting that people should be wearing their clothes until they start to fall apart - perhaps that's going a bit far but she's got the write idea!!
Congrats on Elle Canada.com feature too!
Hi Marta!
Holy Moly.. your legs are endless in the very last photo!!!
Enjoyed to read all your quotes and wish that I would be of those people that can also calm in the middle of the of chaos
Have a beautiful day!!!!
shopping fun!! and congrats for the Elle Canada spread!
Thanks for the comment! I loved this post! I am an avid reader and I think I'm going to have to get that book! Great pictures by the way!
i know! it gets annoying when its warm out and you see boutiques carry heavy wool coats, it makes me sweat!
xoxo
miss neira
so fun! love your flared jeans and congratulations on the Ele feature! woot woot!
I totally feel you. It's such a problem in Florida. It can stay hot here until December and they yank all the warm weather clothes towards the end of the summer.
I agree…everyone is in a rush for fall but I want to enjoy every minute of these dog days of summer while I can! The cold will come soon enough and people will start complaining anyway.
I can't wait to do some cold-weather clothes shopping. I am quite tired of summer outfits and long for a chilly day when I can wear jeans, boots and layered shirts! Can't wait to see a photo of your new boots.
thanks 4 review and good for you because you know when to stop! it's very important to stay calm in a moving planet ^.^
kisses
Beautiful
shopping always makes me happy!
TGIF!
Dear Marta, fantastic jeans! Congratulations on your new purchase, I think it is so important to enjoy things you buy. I also enjoyed your impressions after reading "The Age Of Innocence" - this is one of those books that stay with you forever. I am wondering if you ever read the book "Of Human Bondage" by Somerset Maughem. I have a feeling you will enjoy it tremendously! I think you are absolutely right when it comes to rushing time. I am a very oldafshioned girl in this regard. I shop for Christmas gifts in December, I buy my Winter clothes in the Fall and Summer clothes in the Spring. The idea of rushing time scares me tremendously. I do not need any more reminders of how fast time goes by. My daughter is 14 now. I remeber her first birthday - I was 20! Wishing you the most wonderful weekend:-))).
THANK YOU Marta for the welcome back!!! it's sweet of you to mention me here
