I’ve come to realize that figuring out what to pair with a pencil skirt is a challenge. Some women make it look so effortless, elegant and sexy. When I try wearing one, I feel like a secretary. So this is my attempt at wearing a pencil skirt to my internship meeting.

I also found myself having the exact issue! I went and bought myself 3 (beige, grey, brown pinstripe)and when I tried combining it with some tops I had it made me look like I had no waist or it just didn't look that chic.
In case you are on the lookout for more tops, here's what I've noticed:
1.get tops or blazers which cinch in at the waist and then flair out just a tiny bit.
2.get tops which just end at the wasit. no long tops.
3.belts help alot to change the look or make it look like you have more of an hourglass figure
4. wear it with a tucked in tank. that's the fool proof way to go.
I like to wear pencil skirts when blouses are tucked in, but they always seem to need re-tucking in. So I'm thinking about getting a bodysuit blouse. They have some at VictoriasSecret.com and Urban Behaviour, I think. I know American Apparel has body suits but not the kind with the blouse attached.
It looks fine I just might have opted for a top that would match the shoes.

O LOVE pencil skirts but yes, they can be tricky..I like belts to break it up and tucked in shirts that are a little loose on top..

Your outfit looks amazing! In the past, I have avoided skirts such as these due to my height (5'3") and the fear of looking ridiculous. I finally found a black one that looks nice and have felt a little more open to trying new looks with it. I love my ruffled, cap sleeve blouse with it - I think it's the winning combo.
I like how you didn't go super matchy and added the soft chocolate shoes instead. Looks lovely with your skin tone and hair color~
