Hello Darlings,

This week was filed with lots of exciting developments including my first live on-air TV interview. And Monday evening, I rushed my way into the tents of LG Fashion Week at David Pecaut Square to catch JUMA and Arthur Mendonca spring/summer 2012 collections.

Fifteen minutes behind the schedule, I made it just in time for doors to close. With a bit of chit-chat, the lovely PR girl —who turned out to be a WLG reader— sneaked me into the show. After finding a semi-decent spot to film the show, I was delighted to catch the parade of JUMA’s vibrant designs. Following JUMA, I headed over to catch the big return of Arthur Mendonça. As expected the designers did not fail to impress, but unfortunately my camcorder did by running out of battery.

As opposed to the past few seasons, this time I selected only a handful of shows to attend. Rather than spending the week in hell by putting up with an hour-long waits —and this is with the guest of a designer invite— and crazy crowds, I chose to skip out on the rest of activity.

JUMA Spring/Summer 2012 Review
Last season I was introduced to JUMA and fell in love with their beautiful prints. The sibling due documents their travels by hthe experiences into fabrics with unique prints. This season, Jamil and Alia Juma brought vibrant prints, inspired by Turkish gardens and ceramics.

I absolutely adore this collection and look forward to picking up some of their pieces; available in luxury retailers worldwide including Shopbop and Revolve Clothing. In particular, I am loving the silk scarves and beautifully draped dresses.

Arthur Mendonça Spring/Summer 2012 Review

Following the 2008 studio closure, Mendonça made his return to LG Fashion Week with one of the most anticipated collections this season. With inspiration drawn from Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra, the collection is filled with tailored pieces and sexy flowing dresses. But none-the-less it was the models that gathered some major media attention, amidst the beauties were the top models Andrej Pejic and Amanda Laine.

My favourite part of the show was all the beautiful peplums that were seek on the many runways of Milan and Paris. Also how can a girl say no to a maxi cooper stunner with a slit up to the thigh?

Fashion week is exhausting and the last thing that you want is to feel uncomfortable with the outfit. This explains why I never take chances with my outfits and rather prefer safe options. The atmosphere is intimidating enough and the last thing a girl needs is to worry about outfit co-ordination. Therefore, my choice for the evening was a simple mini, a sleek leather blazer and a pair of sky-high booties. Following the show, the night lead me to the Thompson Hotel for the JUMA after-party which provided a much-needed break :) Of course, the simple combination was idea for evening and night.

I am wearing:
Henry Duarte No.Q65 Lamb Leather Blazer
 Talula Babaton Semi-Sheer Tank

H&M Tweed Skirt

 Velvet Angels Suede Booties
A.V. Max Cuff

With day 1 covered…the drama is yet to come!

With Love…

Marta

I just watched that news segment on youtube. You look and sound great, as always. I didn’t know you spoke fluent Ukrainian. That’s pretty awesome. I used to speak it too when I was little but unfortunately I forgot everything when I learned English… funny how the brain works…
Anyway, keep up the good work :)
