With record summer temperatures, the daily routine of dressing is more challenging considering frizz control, saving melting make-up, worrying about pedis, and choosing a perfect outfit for a super hot day! Wearing as little as possible is an obvious solution but not necessarily a practical one. Here are some of my tips and tricks for braving a heat wave and staying chic!
Silk is the way to go! The fabric is light and breezy and of course, comes in a variety of styles. From shorts, dresses, blouses, tanks and skirts - silk can be a life saver on a hot day :)

Do you know those days when you just can't wait for the clock to hit midnight so the day is finally officially over? Yesterday was that day for me! It sucked in a major way. It started with mixing up the time for a lunch date (stupid! and I feel horrible), then sending a wrong e-mail, then getting into a disagreement with someone near and dear, and last but not least I even found a tiny hole in my favorite silk blouse! One word: Disaster! I had a bad day that now needs a day of damage control, and a trip to Club Monaco.
That's the thing about life, sometimes there are days when you just want to hide under a big comfy blanket and not face the light of day. As a returned home last night to end the work part of my day, I felt like all the weight of the world was on my shoulders. Yes, everyone makes mistakes but that does not prevent one from feeling lousy.

As a warm weather staple, denim cut offs are one of those items that are a good idea for every girls wardrobe. Regardless of your personal style, most every style guru says they are key to the laid back all-American look - especially when paired with a pair of Converse sneakers. Denim cut offs are the equivalent of a floral dress for the trendy and hip. With every glossy's summer issue shouting this statement, my closet was starting to look like quite the social outcast. Speak of fashion pressure!
I am not keen on ripped up and scandalously short cut offs. In part for subconscious reasons, and in part because I feel they are more appropriate for teens. Nonetheless, jeans are just too hot to wear on most mid-summer days. So I took up the mission to find a pair of denim shorts that were neither too tiny, too tight, nor too distressed. My mission turned out to be a bit of a nightmare, as most of the options were overly cheeky :)
