Hello Darlings,
I’d like to take a little break from telling you about fashion shows to address a serious issue that I came across while attending Fashion Week. As I was sitting at Pink Tartan waiting for the show to began, I watched my black chiffon ruffles gently flowing under the fan’s heavy breeze.
My hands were folded and my nails were painted fifth avenue red. As I noticed my bare wrist with only one gold watch, I observed….for a person who own lots of gold jewelry and fun pieces, I suck at accessorizing. Looking at my jewelry box, one would definitely assume that I have a gold jewelry obsession; however, despite having so many beautiful pieces, I have yet to learn the art of accessorizing.
Why not add a simple bracelet here, a bold and colorful ring there, or maybe a beautiful statement necklace… but that is an absolute mystery to me. As I was sitting surrounded by a ton of people in overwhelming color, accessories so bright that they could blind a person and a statements so farfetched that it was difficult for me to wrap my head around them, there I was, watching the minute hand pass by on my lonely watch. I applaud people who take that chance that places them in either the worst or best dressed category. But for me, I prefer not to be daring and stay within my neutral-hued zone. However, with summer around the corner, I want to get in on the fun world of jewelry.. With my constant browsing of ShopNBC for their massive jewelry collection, I am pretty sure that there is a piece or two that is a happy medium for me and my complete fear of making a statement with jewelry.
I know that many of the style setting crowd would say that accessorizing is the easiest way to jazz up a look, but for me this has been a constant struggle. It is difficult to actually take the time to match and pair jewelry to my outfit and then there’s my personal dislike of mixing precious metals. In my opinion, mixing silver and gold is like driving nails on a blackboard: brutal and unnecessary. I just really don’t like to combine the two at once. Due to that particular personal dislike, it is difficult to wear bold jewelry and not look like a gold mine exploded on me. My spring challenge is to accessorize more and explore jewelry.
What is your favorite way to accessorize? Do you have any suggestion for me????

I generally keep it simple and neutral too, I have to admit. If I go for a statement piece though it’ll usually be a necklace, bracelet or ring. Earrings I like to keep simple and small.

i just started wearing jewelry. and i love it both ways. some days i want piles of necklaces and a ring and bracelets completely miss-matched… then other days just a simple charm necklace and nothing else. i think it’s all about having lots of fun.

I can’t really give you any advice, because my watch and wedding and engagement rings are the only jewelry I wear. Colourful or big accessories just don’t represent me, no matter how good they look on others. Your personal style is what you have to take into consideration first of all. Sometimes I like to twist things up a little by wearing a statement necklace or bracelet, but nothing more. Ada

I love accessorizing, but I like focusing on one area, like either my neck, my wrists/fingers or earrings (although I tend to wear simple earrings). I think if your outfit is rather busy it’s better to accessorize with big rings or a bunch of bracelets (small ones grouped or a big statement piece). If your outfit is simple, like a black plain dress, add a really colourful necklace.

I definitely want a turquoise statement ring. I love the look of a lot of rings. However I am not really sure how to pull it off. I also like the look of tons of mismatched bracelets.

I think a good way to learn to accessorize is just to wing it. Don’t take it too seriously. Wear one piece at once, or all of them together. Classy pearls or neon costume jewelry: anything goes! You’ll have a few hits, and def. a few misses, but eventually, you will find a style all your own.

especially pearl studs with a high bun or a sleek pony. As for hit and misses, I think that for now everything feels like a miss.

I usually stick to real jewlery but when I accessorize with costume jewlery, I like just having one statement piece, usually to dress up a plain outfit and give it some boldness.

OMG and also… on suggestions. i find that statement necklaces are the way to go. (alot of people revert to earrings and rings now, which is fine but no longer surprising, IMO). amrita singh is a great designer who incorporates lots of colorful stones into her jewelry… and at a great price point. of course fenton and fallon by dana lorenz are bloody brilliant as well..(she got nominated for accessory designer of the year at last year’s cfda awards LOL). ok thats all from me!
