This summer I have become obsessed with flats, so I decided take a bit of a leap and try a pair of classic Missoni espandrilles. After-all, nothing says summer quite like a cute pair of espadrilles.

The espadrille, a shoe of Spanish and Portuguese origin, is characterized by a sole made of twisted cord that is sewn on sturdy cloth. The espadrille was neither embraced by fashion society nor embellished by a high-heel until the sixties, when Yves Saint Laurent met Isabel Castañer at a trade fair in Paris.
