As a warm weather staple, denim cut offs are one of those items that are a good idea for every girls wardrobe. Regardless of your personal style, most every style guru says they are key to the laid back all-American look - especially when paired with a pair of Converse sneakers. Denim cut offs are the equivalent of a floral dress for the trendy and hip. With every glossy's summer issue shouting this statement, my closet was starting to look like quite the social outcast. Speak of fashion pressure!

I am not keen on ripped up and scandalously short cut offs. In part for subconscious reasons, and in part because I feel they are more appropriate for teens. Nonetheless, jeans are just too hot to wear on most mid-summer days. So I took up the mission to find a pair of denim shorts that were neither too tiny, too tight, nor too distressed. My mission turned out to be a bit of a nightmare, as most of the options were overly cheeky :)

When it comes to picking out an outfit, I always prefer a little dress. Slip it on and you're one foot out the door — just be sure to always pair it with fabulous shoes! From a silky figure hugging number for a date, a cotton maxi for the beach, or cocktail frocks with lace and sequins for a night out on the town. There are as many dress variations as there are women and often not one type suits all women, with the exception of a little shift dress!

Made popular in the late 1950s and the staple of the 60s, a "shift dress" signified a shift in culture and represented the rebellious attitude of the time period. The shape is flattering on most figures and is without doubt the most versatile of the category. It is classic and oh so Audrey Hepburn! Finding a perfect one might take time but if you have one in your closet — in addition to a little black dress — you will be covered for most occasions.
