In the Victorian era, floral arrangements were used to send secret messages to express feelings that otherwise could not be communicated. Such floral arrangements were known as tussie-mussies and the art still has a strong following in the modern day.
In fact, the language of flowers found its roots in the Ottoman Turkey which was then brought to Europe in 1717. Although the art of flowers might not be as prominent in our culture, the concept is very interesting. So instead of gifting someone any type of flowers, why not add a message to them? The gesture is perfect for Mother’s Day!
