Hello Darlings, With February comes the time of the month where we celebrate the love and lust! While not everyone is happily coupled there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being single on Valentine’s Day. This year, all the singles out there will not be miserable and drinking their sorrows away while watching The Notebook. Nope, this Valentine’s Day we’re going to be single, fabulous and happy!
I’ve partnered with Durex Canada and relationship expert Jen Kirsch to bring you the best of what Valentine’s Day has to offer singles. We’re not only hosting two Twitter chats to answer all your love and lust questions this February 8th and 11th but also we’ve got some amazing goodies to giveaway below. So read on and get ready to fall in love with February 14th!
During this time of the year we become so aware of our singlehood and in turn, notice others couplehood. That said, the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere. Here are tips from Jen for the single on coping with the upcoming day of love:
Tip #1
- Don’t do the anti-Valentine’s day fete. These days, bars and venues play on the lonely hearts of single and host big soirees to get the singles out there. With Valentine’s Day being on a Saturday this year, it might be tempting to go to one of the anti-Vday parties but doing so is a statement in and of itself. And not a good one. Nothing
says ‘I care’ like trying hard to show you don’t. It’s fine to go out with girlfriends that eve, but stick to something you’d normally do on a Saturday night as opposed to trying to make a statement. People see through it.
Tip #2
- Spend time with those you love. Valentine’s Day is a day of love, no matter what form it comes in. Why not set a brunch date with your parents? Shower them with love and affection, have them reiterate their how we met story, and have a celebratory mimosa with them. Many venues have prix-fixe Valentine’s Day menus so you can find a place that’s in your budget and spread the love by treating them! Not close with your parents? Do the same for a friend, your nieces and nephews, or the certain someone who means a lot to you.
Tip #3
- Hunt a hookup. The same way weddings breed hookups, Valentine’s Day does the same. Get a blow out, get your nails did, put on a hip-hugging dress you feel great in and head to a meat market venue. Looking to break the ice? Send over a shot of tequila to your eye-candy’s table and let him do the rest. My go to saying that I swear by? “Plant the seed then back off”

Great timing for Valentines Day. Delightful and playfull prize!
Live music staying dry and some nice flirting would make for an ideal Valentines Day.
I’ve spent more than my share of V Days as a single. Pamper yourself. Get a mani/pedi. Get together with friends and go out. Or, if you aren’t in the mood, load up on comfort food and watch some good flicks at home. I preferred the hanging out at home route, with a few gals and lots of POMtinis.
I am 100% single, will be 100% single on valentines day, just like the past ..24 years of my life (the holiday season takes a toll on my relationships) 🙂 This year, I will enjoy V-DAY with my best friends, watching fifty shades of grey. After, we will go out (uniun, two cats, ballroom??) and we will finish our night with street meat. I’m very much looking forward to feb 14th!!!!
