Hello Darlings, Sand beneath my feet, wind in my hair and a margarita in hand! That is the dream… a South Beach dream, that is! Escaping from the cold days at home to warmth of sunshine! South Beach is like a Disneyland but for adults, it is an absolute playground in the midst of palms trees and ocean breeze.
In the midst of the Art Deco stunners, South Beach (Sobe) is a winter playground for dreamers and skeptics alike. By day absorb the cheer beauty of the turquoise waters. In the afternoons stroll through the art deco buildings to admire SoBe’s golden era of architecture. Then head west to Collins Avenue where the shopping will whet your appetite for luxury, or enjoy a culture fix at Frank Gehry’s New World Center on Lincoln Road.
I’ve decided to postpone the holiday rush of November and head over to Miami for five days. It takes mental prep to tackle the holiday shopping, and few days of sunshine is just what a girl needs to get the job done! This is my first trip trying out American Express. The card offers a high reward rate which explains why it had become a member favorite.
I’ve been a long time SPG member and an Amex customer. When I combined the two together, the magic happened. After a few trips, birthday presents, dinner dates and shopping fun, I’ve gathered enough points to book a 4 night stay at the beautiful W South Beach hotel and an American Airlines flight with SPG Flights. This was my first time booking an entire trip using my SPG points, yup I like to collect!
Slightly unsure what to expect, I decided to old-school and call in, 15 minutes later I was booked for Miami. Naturally, I could’ve booked online through SPG site or their wicked mobile app which also features a passbook. If you’re not familiar with iPhone passbooks, it is a must have for every girl on the go! As far as customer service, SPG representative was easier to work with than a travel agent. Not to toot own horn but not spending a simple penny and only Starpoints that I’ve collected over time was pretty sweet.
Amongst all of my friends, there isn’t a single one that doesn’t have a Starwood Preferred Guest Card and only a handful that don’t have American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Card. I’m very excited to soaked up the sunshine, explore South Beach and see what I can do with this Card!
