Hello Darlings, It is not often that I talk about my family or close friends. However with Father’s Day just few days away and my dad celebrating a milestone birthday it got me thinking of the importance of father - daughter relationships. To say that my father is the greatest man in my life would be an understatement, and I am sure many would say the same about theirs. In my case, I am as much of a father’s daughter as I am my mother’s.
Growing up as an only child, I’ve formed equally as close relationships to both of my parents. Growing up a girly girl with an inner tomboy is definitely thanks to their influence. Those who are familiar with writing or my social channels have seen my mom and our adventures but on another hand not so much of my dad. Perhaps due to his private and somewhat shy nature or his complete denial of having any presence on my social media, it is one of the closest relationships in my life that I have never publicly share.
They say being a daddy’s girl essentially makes your dad a hero and in fact it is true. The bond that I share with my father is unlike the one I have with anyone else. It is fair to say that I have taken on the qualities of both of my parents. My mother raised me to be a lady but my father raised me to be a strong woman and a leader. It is with his guidance that I’ve gained an unapologetic sense of self and that is a quality that I owe much of my success to. It is through his constant reassurance to not give into emotions that I am often seen as reserved, but also a quality that has saved me from many heartaches. It is also through his strong will that I’ve learned not to be afraid of taking a chance. The strength comes from him and the softness from my mother. Many will say that to those who know me I am more like my mother, but to those who don’t I’m the exact reflection of my father. It is true that they say that fathers make us powerful within.
Our fathers or father figures set an example and standard against which a daughter will judge all men. No man in this world can love a girl more than her father. While opening up about mine is not easy as we have an unspoken closeness, I hope that this Sunday every girl takes a moment to reflect on how wonderful it is to have a man in your life as exceptional as he is.

I really lucked out. My dad is absolutely amazing. My dad is the only male in a family of 5. He’s had to endure a lot over the years… the upper level of our house, air thick with hairspray… sitting in a boiling hot car for several hours while we tear up the outlet malls …. shoveling the snow alone when it’s -30 …. having to speed since we took too long getting ready .. I don’t think any other dad would’ve survived our household.
On Father’s Day, my sister and I throw him a big BBQ, all expenses covered by us. We go all out - filet mignon, German beer, and margarita cheesecake. We put in a lot of effort, but it’s so worth it!! #powerwithin
#powerwithin just by spending time together 🙂
I bought my Dad some personalized beer mugs and we shared a pint together

Sadly, my father passed away almost 30 years ago, way too early before I had kids and really appreciated all the unseen things that he did. With my kids, divorce meant Father’s Day was a time to be with them — which is always cause for celebration. All good!

For fathers day - we made bbq for our father in law and took my husband away for the weekend since it was his birthday as well 🙂
Since the birth of our first daughter, we have been celebrating Father’s Day with a camping trip. As the kids grew older we have established this tradition and it is an opportunity for their daddy to teach them life skills - pitching the tent, fishing, canoeing, etc. I would like to win this to the greatest dad to my girls.. so he doesn’t have to smell like campfire on Father’s Day 🙂

We keep most traditional holiday low key. But typically Fathers Day includes a special meal.

We don’t do much for Father’s Day. My husband didn’t have a dad around at all growing up, and my Dad passed away in 2007 so the day is really really hard for me. The kids made him some gifts/cards in school and drew some pictures for him, and we had a nice BBQ’d dinner and that was about it. Just a quiet day, which is how we like to celebrate most things. My Dad was an amazing man, and I miss him so much, and without him Father’s Day just isn’t the same. #powerwithin
I celebrated via Skype, since he lives in France #powerwithin
