Denis Gagnon and Dandi Maestre Jewelry Preview

Hello Darlings,

It was Sunday afternoon and I was getting ready for the F/W 2011 Preview of Denis Gagnon and Dandi Maestre Jewelry.

As I was standing in front of a mirror completely overwhelmed, and annoyed at my inability to wear patterns, I came to realize that it doesn’t have to be perfect it just needs to work. To me, mixing patterns is as foreign as rocket science; yet, there I was, trying to make sense of it all. Loving this seasons’ trend of mixing bizarre patterns, I was determined to venture outside my comfort zone and do it.

By this time, I had tried about a dozen variations that made me feel like a complete mess. But eventually I came across this one: a cute Winter Kate chiffon skirt and a new Theory cashmere/wool sweater. The skirt had a hint of some of the shades in the sweater, and I just loved the contrast of the thin knit with flow-y silk. For a touch of the unexpected touch, I added my favorite thigh-high leather and suede boots. This outfit felt like ME :)

With my outfit ready, I was geared to meet and mingle at the Denis Gagnon and Dandi Maestre event. Denis Gagnon is the fashion darling of Montreal and one of my favorite Canadian designers. His clothes are bold and innovative, although the designer himself is shy in person. With his fabulous glasses and fantastic casual outfit, Denis Gagnon was a pleasure and honor to meet. As for Dandi Maestre, she is Toronto’s jewelry darling. With her collection for FW11 is tribal, bold while still achieving a chic and urban feel. Her pieces are definitely bound to make a statement. Due to her stunning vision, her pieces are simply artistic masterpieces.

I am wearing:
Theory "Hetty S" Cashmere/Wool Sweater
Winter Kate "Tilda" Silk Chiffon Skirt in Vintage
Calvin Klein Opaque Tights
Michael Kors Watch
La Baccarina Leather and Suede Boots
Z Spoke by Zac Posen Leather Tote
( Holding a beautiful Denis Gagnon Chiffon and Leather Dress....)

With this event, I began my venture in Toronto Fashion Week. Last night I was invited to attend the JUMA show. It was an impressive start to the week and set the bar high for upcoming events. A post along with an outfit is coming up next! Also, thank you so much for such a great response to the video! I was a bit anxious about posting it, but with your warm comments I may make it a regular feature of the blog.
